Teacher Resources
This page is a work in progress. As a community of teachers and writers, we are interested in hearing about what you are reading and learning about the teaching of writing—what you have discovered about summer programs, reference materials, research. We look to teachers who visit this site—former as well as future participants in Institute workshops—to help this section of the Institute's website grow as a valuable resource. Click here to submit a website that you think would be a useful addition to this page. We would love to hear from you.
Workshop Handouts
Institute workshops are experiential in character. They invite participants to learn by doing and by reflecting on the reading and writing activities that form the substance of each workshop. At the conclusion of each session, however, participants receive readings that provide background to the theories of learning and writing inform the workshops and offer a context for a deeper understanding of specific workshop strategies. They also receive summaries or outlines of the basic institute writing strategies that most participants encounter first in either Teaching Writing and Thinking or Writing to Learn but which are part of all Institute workshops. These handouts are intended to be reminders of activities teachers experience in the workshops and are password protected for use by past participants of Institute workshops.
